MULTAN, Mar 24 (APP):The safety team of Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) Sahiwal Circle issued safety challans to two officials of Multan Road Sub-Division for violating standard safety protocols during field operations.
Acting on the directions of Superintending Engineer MEPCO Operation Circle Sahiwal, Nasir Mahmood Fani, the inspection was carried out by SDO Safety/Training Imran Ashraf and Muhammad Zakariya, along with the Safety Inspector HSE Multan. During the inspection in the Multan Road Sub-Division area, serious safety lapses were observed.
A Line Man-II, Muhammad Yaseen, was found working without essential safety equipment, including an LT bipper, high-voltage detector, and fiber ladder. Meanwhile, Assistant Lineman Sajid Ali was repairing a transformer without wearing a safety helmet and safety shoes, creating a high risk of a serious accident.
Taking notice of this negligence, the authorities issued formal safety challans against the concerned staff.
The safety team reiterated that violations of safety SOPs in field operations will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and a strict zero-tolerance policy was being enforced. All field staff have been warned to ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Tools & Plants (T&P), failing which strict disciplinary action will be taken.
On the occasion, a seminar was also conducted featuring a parade of PPE and tools, along with a special lecture on the use of the E-Safety App.
The Superintending Engineer emphasized that strict adherence to safety protocols is essential to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of field staff.
