Scholars stress unity, peace at Iftar gathering in Rawalpindi

Religious scholars and community leaders emphasised the need for unity and harmony among Muslims while appreciating the peaceful observance of Youm-e-Shahadat Hazrat Ali (AS) across Punjab.

RAWALPINDI, Mar 12 (APP): Religious scholars and community leaders emphasised the need for unity and harmony among Muslims while appreciating the peaceful observance of Youm-e-Shahadat Hazrat Ali (AS) across Punjab.
Addressing an Iftar gathering organised under the “Maryam Ke Mehman” initiative at New Darbar Adda, Mandi Mor, Pirwadhai, Pir Syed Jameel ur Rehman of Eidgah Sharif said the Youm-e-Ali (AS) had been observed in a peaceful manner across the province due to the effective strategy of the Punjab Government.
He said religious scholars should focus on promoting inter-Muslim unity and harmony, adding that all available resources were being utilised to maintain peace in the province.
He also appreciated the positive role played by religious scholars in promoting unity among Muslims on the occasion of Youm-e-Shahadat Hazrat Ali (AS).
Punjab’s Parliamentary Secretary Ziaullah Shah said mutual understanding and unity were essential for maintaining peace. He said all segments of society stood behind law enforcement agencies for the security and stability of Pakistan.
He added that peace committees remained fully active across Punjab during the holy month of Ramazan and the provincial government was making efforts to promote inter-sect harmony and unity among Muslims.
The speakers also acknowledged the important role of religious scholars in the moral and social reform of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Pir Syed Imran Haider Shah, Haji Haqnawaz, Raja Zafar Iqbal and Chaudhry Amjad said scholars were promoting unity among Muslims through their sermons and guidance from the pulpit.
They strongly condemned aggression against Iran and the martyrdom of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, and said the challenges faced by the Muslim world could only be addressed through unity and solidarity.
They also appreciated the positive policies of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, saying they were being acknowledged by mosque Imams.
Haji Haqnawaz said the “Maryam Ke Mehman” Ramazan Iftar dastarkhwan would be arranged every year.
Earlier, Pir Syed Jameel ur Rehman offerd prayers before Iftar and special supplications were made for the peace, security and stability of the country.
