The Punjab government has decided to launch the “Connected Punjab” project to develop the province on modern lines, under which digital facilities will be promoted.

LAHORE, Mar 28 (APP): The Punjab government has decided to launch the “Connected Punjab” project to develop the province on modern lines, under which digital facilities will be promoted.
According to official sources, the Punjab government will obtain a loan of about Rs 27.72 billion from the World Bank for this project, for which a formal negotiation committee has been established.
This committee will discuss the details of the loan and the project with the World Bank, while the Secretary Planning and Development Board will head the project.
The main objective of the “Connected Punjab” project is to provide high-speed internet and modern digital facilities across the province.
Under this project, the Punjab government will also establish its own GPU cloud, while ensuring broadband internet access to remote areas.
Furthermore, the project will make the cashless system more efficient and effective, which will improve digital payments.
The government system will be improved through modern technology so that more online facilities can be provided to the public and the rounds of government offices can be reduced.
Officials said that this project will not only improve governance but also create new employment opportunities, which will prove positive for the province’s economy.
