PSCA system, smart policing reduce crime rate in Lahore by 74pc

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Thursday said that effective use of Safe City cameras and modern AI-based surveillance technology had helped reduce the crime rate in the metropolitan city by around 74 per cent.

LAHORE, Mar 12 (APP): The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Thursday said that effective use of Safe City cameras and modern AI-based surveillance technology had helped reduce the crime rate in the metropolitan city by around 74 per cent.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, the reduction in crime had been achieved under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure a safer Punjab.
He said a joint smart policing strategy of Lahore Police, Crime Control Department (CCD) and PSCA had resulted in a visible improvement in the overall law and order situation in the provincial capital.
Quoting official statistics, the spokesperson said that 4,272 crime cases were reported in January 2025, which decreased to 1,108 cases in February 2026. Similarly, the number of crimes reported in March 2025 stood at 4,522, which gradually declined to 1,264 by December 2025.
He said a consistent monthly decline in incidents of robbery, theft, snatching and other property-related crimes had been observed during 2025 due to the effective monitoring system of Safe City Lahore.
The spokesperson added that the use of modern technology, data analytics and artificial intelligence had significantly strengthened policing and enabled timely identification and arrest of criminals.
