PSCA drones detect violations, ensure swift action across Punjab

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Tuesday said that smart drone surveillance had been further strengthened across Punjab, leading to detection of multiple violations including kite flying and environmental hazards, with timely action ensured by relevant departments.

LAHORE, Mar 24 (APP):The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Tuesday said that smart drone surveillance had been further strengthened across Punjab, leading to detection of multiple violations including kite flying and environmental hazards, with timely action ensured by relevant departments.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, drone-based monitoring was being carried out continuously in Lahore and other districts to enhance security, environmental oversight and crime prevention.
The spokesperson said that the Lahore Drone Team detected incidents of kite flying in various areas, including Sabzazar, Johar Town and Kahna, where information was promptly shared with field police, resulting in immediate legal action. Similar incidents were also identified near Garhi Shahu and Allama Iqbal Road, where timely alerts were issued for strict enforcement.
He added that drone surveillance also identified smoke and smog emissions in Gajumata Industrial Estate and Badami Bagh, upon which the Environment Department was alerted for necessary action. In Johar Town, smoke caused by burning garbage on a rooftop was detected, leading to prompt police intervention.
The spokesperson further said that effective drone monitoring was being carried out in Misri Shah Iron Market to prevent potential criminal activities. In Muzaffargarh, drone surveillance at Chenab Bridge identified passengers traveling on rooftops of buses, and action was taken by the authorities.
He said that under the Smart Safe City initiative, drone surveillance was also active at crime hotspots in Murree, Jhelum, Gujrat and Muzaffargarh, while monitoring was ongoing in Bahawalpur, Multan and Rahim Yar Khan.
The spokesperson emphasised that PSCA drones were playing a key role in ensuring timely action against illegal activities, adding that the authority remained committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety through modern technology.
