LAHORE, Mar 20 (APP):The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has intensified surveillance across the province by deploying advanced drone technology to enhance public safety, prevent crime and monitor environmental and civic violations.
According to PSCA’s spokesperson, the smart drones were being used for real-time identification of crime hotspots, illegal encroachments, smog, smoke and other violations, with immediate coordination ensured with relevant departments for prompt action.
The spokesperson said drone surveillance was being carried out in multiple areas, including Lahore, with special deployment during Eid to monitor mosques, markets and bus terminals to ensure security. In Green Town and adjoining localities, drones detected illegal kite flying, leading to swift intervention by authorities, while in industrial areas, incidents of smog and smoke emissions were reported to the Environmental Protection Department for necessary action.
He said drone operations in Gujrat, Sahiwal and Multan helped monitor suspicious activities and crime-prone areas, enabling timely preventive measures. Similarly, in Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan, drones identified encroachments and potential crime hotspots, and shared actionable intelligence with concerned departments.
The spokesperson added that the use of modern drone technology was significantly improving response time and effectiveness against illegal activities, while ensuring protection of life and property. He added that the authority remains committed to round-the-clock monitoring through smart surveillance systems to provide citizens with a safe and secure environment.
