LAHORE, Mar 17 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has launched a comprehensive crackdown to ensure safe food for citizens during Eid-ul-Fitr, with special teams conducting inspections across the province throughout the Eid holidays.
In this regard, PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive meeting at PFA Headquarters and reviewed the operational guidelines and strategies of the crackdown, emphasizing strict enforcement of food safety regulations and the protection of public health. Special field teams for food, meat, and dairy safety have been formed to conduct inspections in three shifts throughout the three-day Eid holidays.
The DG directed all teams to remain on high alert and respond immediately to any complaints from citizens.
Alongside these field teams,all officers will also participate in monitoring food points, production units, and retail outlets during the festive period.
Divisional and district officers will supervise their respective teams to ensure maximum compliance.
Continuous inspections are being carried out in sweets units, spice units, carbonated drink outlets, and other production facilities. Essential items including milk, meat, noodles, and other small and large consumables will be thoroughly checked for quality and hygiene.
Monitoring has also been extended to railway stations, bus terminals, motorway service areas, parks, recreational sites, fast food points, and sweets outlets to ensure safe food for citizens throughout the province. Any violations of food safety laws will result in immediate closure of production units and strict enforcement action.
The DG assured that the operation aims to provide safe and hygienic food to citizens during Eid,adding that complaints can be reported through the PFA helpline 1223.
“We are committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to healthy and safe food during the festive period,” he said.
