NDMA predicts more rain, snowfall with thunderstorms

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for more rains and snowfall with thunderstorms. The westerly wind system will bring more rain with strong winds and gusty winds in most parts of the country during the next 12 to 24 hours.

LAHORE, Mar 26 (APP):National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for more rains and snowfall with thunderstorms. The westerly wind system will bring more rain with strong winds and gusty winds in most parts of the country during the next 12 to 24 hours.
Snowfall is also expected in the upper and mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next 12 to 24 hours.
Thunderstorms, wind, storms and hail are likely in areas of Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad and other cities of Punjab including Lahore, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Mianwali, Murree, Rawalpindi, Attock in the next 12 to 24 hours.
Rain is also expected in Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Narowal, D.G. Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.
Strong winds, lightning and hailstorm across the country can damage weak structures, trees and power lines. Roads are slippery due to rain, traffic flow is likely to be affected.
Snowfall in mountainous areas is likely to affect traffic flow, travelers should be careful. There is also a risk of landslides due to continuous rain in mountainous areas.
Experts have warned citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, drive carefully and follow weather instructions. They advised citizens to stay away from trees, weak structures and installations during strong winds and storms.
Tourists and travelers should check the weather and road conditions before traveling to northern areas.
