Murree admin holds mock exercise to review emergency response

MURREE, Mar 09 (APP):The District Administration Murree on Monday conducted a comprehensive mock exercise at GPO Chowk on Mall Road to assess preparedness for dealing with any emergency in view of the prevailing security situation.

The exercise was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi under the supervision of the district administration and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

Officials of Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, the Punjab Police, the Traffic Police, the Horticulture Authority and other relevant departments participated in the drill and demonstrated timely response during a simulated emergency situation.

Various scenario-based exercises were carried out to test the capacity of different departments and further improve coordination and joint response mechanisms in case of any untoward incident.

Senior officials of the relevant departments monitored different stages of the exercise, while the District Operation Centre and control rooms kept the activity under constant observation.

During the mock drill, rescue teams demonstrated practical steps, including shifting affected persons to safe locations, providing first aid and securing the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Shirazi said providing immediate relief to affected people in the event of any accident or emergency was the top priority of the district administration.

He said such exercises were aimed at assessing the preparedness of institutions and strengthening a joint strategy to effectively deal with any unforeseen situation.

The deputy commissioner added that in view of the prevailing security environment and harsh weather conditions, such drills were of vital importance as they helped enhance coordination and ensure prompt collective response among departments.

He said the District Administration Murree remained fully prepared round the clock to provide timely, safe and quality emergency services to citizens across the district and safeguard their life and property in any emergency.
