More than 2.6m people served with Iftari at Dastarkhwans till the 21st of Ramazan

LAHORE, Mar 12 (APP): The Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department has issued an important report regarding the ‘Ramazan Nigehban Dastarkhwans’ established across Punjab.
According to official sources here on Thursday the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Secretary Dr Kiran Khurshid stated that 423 dastarkhwans (community iftar tables) have been set up across the province.
At these ‘dastarkhwans’, approximately 100,000 to 150,000 people break their fast with dignity every day, she said.
She further said that 127,121 people broke their fast yesterday at the ‘Ramazan ‘Nigehban dastarkhwans’ across the province in a pleasant environment.
From the 1st of Ramadan to the 21st of Ramadan, more than 2.6 million people had ‘iftar’ at these dastarkhwans.
Kiran Khurshid said that for the first time in Punjab’s history, these dastarkhwans have been established on a large scale with the cooperation of philanthropists. She said, “The iftar menu at these tables includes chicken pulao, chicken korma, dates, fruits, samosas and pakoras.”
She stated that Food Safety, Food Authority and district administration officers were conducting strict monitoring and continuous inspections of the dastarkhwans.
She said, “Ramazan Nigehban Dastarkhwans are an excellent model of public-private partnership, where high-quality iftar is being provided along with proper safety and security arrangements.”
