Moderate to light rain lashes Lahore

LAHORE, Mar 18 (APP):Moderate to light rain lashed the provincial capital on Wednesday, and the Met Office has forecast similar weather conditions over the next 24 hours. Showers were recorded in several areas of Lahore, including Canal Road, Garhi Shahu, Davis Road, Johar Town, Garden Town, Ichra and Mughalpura.
The continuous drizzle caused inconvenience in low-lying localities, where water accumulation was reported, while a number of roads resembled small pools, disrupting the smooth flow of traffic.
It is pertinent to mention that the NDMA had earlier forecast thunderstorms, strong winds and rainfall across various parts of the country through March 25. According to the authority, a fresh westerly wave has gripped the northern and western regions.
Rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore and adjoining areas of upper and central Punjab. In some locations of upper Punjab, thundershowers and hailstorms are also likely.
In southern Punjab, rain has been forecast for Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan. Meanwhile, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience intermittent strong winds and thundershowers until March 25.

In Balochistan, intermittent rain and strong winds are likely in several areas. Sindh, however, is expected to remain largely dry, although isolated rainfall may occur in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Karachi and Hyderabad.
