Joint operation against illegal cigarettes launched on Murree’s Mall Road

MURREE, Mar 26 (APP):The district administration on Thursday carried out a joint operation against the sale of illegal cigarettes on Mall Road Murree, seizing a large quantity of illicit stock and initiating legal action against those involved.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Magistrate Usman Aslam on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Shirazi, with active participation of officials from the Excise Department and the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA).
During the operation, several shops were inspected and action was taken against elements involved in the sale of illegal cigarettes, officials said, adding that a significant quantity of illicit products was confiscated.
The district administration officials said the operation was aimed at protecting public health and ensuring enforcement of relevant laws.
They said further legal proceedings had been initiated against violators in accordance with the law and warned that indiscriminate action would continue against such elements.
Preventing illegal activities in Murree, a key tourist destination, and safeguarding the interests of citizens and visitors, they added, remained a top priority, with all relevant departments playing an active role.
