The event was attended by a large number of political and social figures, notables, elders, and youth.
Addressing the participants, Gilani said that such festive gatherings not only spread love but also play a vital role in strengthening social cohesion and collective unity.
He noted that the event reflected a shared commitment to moving forward through collective thinking and mutual cooperation.
He stressed that while politics holds its importance, resolving public issues and ensuring regional development must remain the top priority. Gilani reiterated that he has always sought to represent the marginalized and underprivileged segments of society and will continue striving for their rights.
The Senate Chairman remarked that the future may bring multiple challenges, but these can be overcome through unity and collaboration. He assured the public that his doors remain open at all times and that he is fully committed to living up to the trust placed in him.
Reflecting on personal values, Gilani shared advice from his father about always standing with people in both their joys and sorrows, a principle he said he has followed throughout his life and passed on to the next generation.
He also paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto, describing her as a wise and visionary leader who consistently prioritized public welfare.
Recalling his political journey, Gilani said he first won an election from Lodhran before contesting from Multan. He highlighted that the key to political success lies in maintaining strong connections with the public and party workers. He expressed satisfaction that many supporters who stood with him since 1988 are now represented by a new generation, reflecting enduring loyalty and trust.
The event concluded with participants exchanging Eid greetings and offering special prayers for the country’s progress, prosperity, and stability.
