Extraordinary security arrangements planned across Punjab for Eid-ul-Fitr

Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday said that extraordinary security arrangements will be ensured across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, urging citizens to fully cooperate with the administration in view of the prevailing Pak-Afghan situation.

LAHORE, Mar 18 (APP):Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday said that extraordinary security arrangements will be ensured across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, urging citizens to fully cooperate with the administration in view of the prevailing Pak-Afghan situation.
He expressed these views while chairing the 50th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order held at the Home Department. The meeting was attended by Co-Chairman Bilal Yasin and Minister for Auqaf Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, among others.
During the meeting, Secretary Punjab Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi briefed participants on the overall law and order situation in the province. The committee appreciated the performance of the administration and police for maintaining effective security during Ramadan, Youm-Ali (RA) and Youm Quds.
A detailed review of security arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr was conducted, with directions issued to ensure foolproof security across Punjab during Eid as well as Pakistan Day. Strict implementation of Section 144 was ordered, including a ban on flying drones.
The committee also imposed a complete ban on temporary mechanical swings, aerial firing and one-wheeling during Eid. Comprehensive security arrangements were reviewed for the Pakistan Super League matches scheduled from March 26 to May 3, with special focus on Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.
The meeting approved the extension of deployment of two companies of Rangers at Mianwali check posts and sanctioned relief compensation for citizens affected by a recent bomb blast.
Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized that protection of life and property remains the state’s top priority, adding that mosques, Imambargahs and open gatherings will be provided full security cover.
Bilal Yasin directed all districts to strictly implement security guidelines issued by the Home Department, stressing the deployment of volunteers alongside police personnel after clearance from the Special Branch. He also called for the deployment of lady police personnel at places of worship for women.
Chaudhry Shafay Hussain underscored the importance of keeping peace committees active across the province to promote interfaith harmony.
Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi highlighted that a three-tier security plan will be implemented during Eid prayers, with security check posts to be set up at city entry and exit points as well as inter-provincial routes. He added that a complete ban on display of weapons will be enforced and objectionable content on social media will be monitored and reported.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Secretary Auqaf Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, Special Secretary Home Fazlur Rehman, Additional IG Operations, DIG Special Branch and CTD, SSP CTD, and other relevant officers, while commissioners, RPOs, deputy commissioners and DPOs from across Punjab joined via video link.
