WAH CANTT, Mar 18 (APP): The Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) court in Taxila found Qadeer Khan guilty of possessing and attempting to distribute 2.20 kilograms of heroin, which police said was recovered from his custody during his arrest by Wah Cantt police in April last year.
The Judge presiding over the case ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt after hearing arguments from both sides.
The court also imposed a fine Rs 500,000 and in case of non-payment, the convict will serve an additional six months in prison.
During the trial, the state prosecutor argued that Khan had been caught red-handed while smuggling narcotics and that the evidence clearly linked him to the offence, describing it as a serious crime warranting no leniency.
Following the verdict, the convict was transferred to Rawalpindi Central Jail to serve his sentence.
