LAHORE, Mar 31 (APP):More than 10,000 streets have been completed under the Chief Minister Punjab’s Lahore Development Programme as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade urban infrastructure across the provincial capital.
These details were revealed during a review meeting of the Lahore Development Programme (LDP) held here with Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz in the chair, which was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance), Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Lahore, all Assistant Commissioners and representatives of relevant departments.
The meeting was informed that out of a total 14,423 streets included in the two phases of the programme, 10,392 streets have been completed so far. It was further reported that in Phase 1, all 5,643 streets have been completed, while in Phase 2, 4,749 out of 8,780 streets have been constructed. Work on 2,354 streets is currently in progress under Phase 2, while efforts are underway for early completion of remaining schemes.
Officials briefed the meeting on the pace of work, quality control measures and field monitoring mechanisms being implemented to ensure timely completion of development projects.
Addressing the meeting, the DC said that no delay in the completion of development schemes would be tolerated and instructed all departments concerned to maintain quality standards and accelerate work on ongoing projects. He also directed NESPAK to ensure effective monitoring of construction quality in the field and to maintain regular presence of inspectors on site.
He further emphasized improved coordination among all departments to ensure transparency, efficiency and timely completion of projects. Strict compliance with safety protocols was also directed during construction activities.
The DC said the Lahore Development Programme is a flagship initiative of the Chief Minister Punjab aimed at improving urban infrastructure and civic facilities in Lahore. He added that all development works must be durable and of high quality so that citizens can benefit from long-term improvements in infrastructure.
