SARGODHA, Apr 05 (APP): Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Sunday chaired a meeting to review forest protection measures, intensify the crackdown on the timber mafia, and finalize strategies to prevent forest fires across the division.
The meeting was attended by district administration officials, the Deputy Conservator of Forests, and divisional and district forest officers, where the Commissioner instructed officials to accelerate the ongoing tree plantation campaign and enhance mutual coordination.
Emphasizing strict law enforcement, Hafiz Shaukat Ali directed all relevant departments to ensure indiscriminate action against elements involved in the illegal felling of trees to preserve natural resources.
Special focus was given to the Soon Valley and adjacent hilly terrains, where the meeting decided to adopt a joint strategy for preventing fire incidents and protecting the unique ecosystem of the region.
The commissioner urged the district administration, police, and forest department to work in unison while launching public awareness drives to promote a green and healthy environment through maximum plantation.
