Ali Zafar-Meesha Shafi defamation case: Court hearing adjourned for record review

LAHORE, Mar 30 (APP): A sessions court on Monday adjourned until Tuesday the hearing of singer Ali Zafar’s defamation suit against Meesha Shafi to review the complete case record before announcing a verdict.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Asif Hayat heard the matter, during which lawyers representing both sides assisted the court in proceedings.
The court observed that a decision would be announced after a detailed examination of the entire record of the case. It further noted that if the judgment is finalized during court hours tomorrow, it will be announced the same day; otherwise, a new date for the verdict will be issued.
Ali Zafar had filed the defamation suit against Meesha Shafi in 2018, seeking Rs1 billion in damages after she accused him of harassment.
