AC Kot Momin recovers 7000 packets of illegal cigarettes

The district administration on Tuesday seized 7000 packets of illegal cigarettes during raids in Kot Momin and adjoining areas.

KHUSHAB, Mar 31 (APP):The district administration on Tuesday seized 7000 packets of illegal cigarettes during raids in Kot Momin and adjoining areas.
According to a spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner(AC) Kot Momin Akhtar Malik accompanied by revenue and allied teams,led the operation against an illegal cigarette supply network.
During a raid on Sheikh Mustafa Kiryana store,authorities recovered approximately 4000 packets of cigarettes. Three salesmen present at the shop were taken into custody.
Acting on information obtained from the suspects,the team conducted a follow-up raid in the suburban locality of Warkanwali,where 3000 additional cigarette packets were seized.
Officials also confiscated packaging equipment and two sacks of empty cigarette wrappers from the site.
According to the AC Momin,the cigarettes were being manufactured locally and supplied in the market without payment of taxes,resulting in losses to the national exchequer.
Deputy Commissioner(DC) Sargodha Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry said that action against illegal businesses would continue without discrimination.
He added that tax evasion would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
