100,000 saplings to be planted in city

Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has said that about 100,000 saplings of 5-feet tall will be planted in the city as per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

FAISALABAD, Mar 09 (APP): Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has said that about 100,000 saplings of 5-feet tall will be planted in the city as per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The saplings will be planted inside the boundary wall and proper care be taken for their growth. He mentioned that large-scale plantations can cut temperature by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
He said this while talking to Chairman All Pakistan Power Looms Association Waheed Khaliq Ramae after planting saplings on Kashmir Road, Ghulam Muhammad Abad on Monday.
On the occasion, the association announced a plan to plant 10,000 saplings in the city.
The Commissioner said that the plantation drive will be implemented in the form of a movement and the citizens will also be involved in the campaign.
He said that steps will be taken to resolve the problems faced by the association.
He also issued instructions to the Municipal Corporation to make the street lights on Kashmir Road functional.
