ISLAMABAD, April 27 (APP): Pakistan No. 1 Aqeel Khan clinched the 35th Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Khyber Cup Open Tennis Championship trophy at the PAF Officers’ Mess Peshawar on Wednesday which was also his 17th-time in a row.

Aqeel beat Muhammad Abid by 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3 in the final, says a PAF press release issued here.
Air Marshal Asad Abdur Rehman Khan Lodhi, Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Support), was the chief guest at the occasion.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 27 (APP): Advisor to Prime Minister on National
History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui on Wednesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership was doing politics of allegations and agitation on Panama Papers for point scoring.
Talking to PTV, he said names of about 200 Pakistanis were mentioned in Panama Papers but Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his family was being targeted by the opposition.
He said that some close aides of PTI chief Imran Khan were also named for waiving off loans from the banks and some were mentioned in Panama Papers.

Business leaders hail ICIJ clarification regarding Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE, April 27 (APP): The traders and business community Wednesday welcomed the news about International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) clarification that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had never owned or run any offshore company.
Talking to APP here the business leaders including office-bearers of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and PML-N Traders Wing Senior Vice President Khawaja Khawar Rasheed termed it good news for Pakistan and its recovering economy.

LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad and Vice President Nasir Saeed said the ICIJ clarification had given a good message to the outer world in general and foreign investors in particular.

Govt determined to create more economic opportunities in FATA: Dar

ISLAMABAD, Apr 27 (APP): Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday said the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was determined to create more economic opportunities in FATA and integrate it with the rest of the country.
Chairing a meeting here, Dar said that the uplift of FATA was a priority for the Government.
“The government is committed to meet the expenses on rehabilitation of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) and reconstruction work in the affected areas of FATA and necessary resources will be made available for the purpose,” he added.

Govt determined to hold across the board accountability

ISLAMABAD, April 27 (APP): Minister for Commerce Engr
Khurram Dastgir Wednesday said that the government was determined
to hold across the board accountability and very comprehensive
Terms of References (ToRs) were prepared for judicial commission
in this regard.
Talking to a private news channel, he said if opposition
give some positive suggestion with regard to ToRs, they would
be welcomed, however, it would not be allowed to target
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his family for their
politics of point scoring, he said.
Khurram Dastgir said, the judicial commission would
be fully authorised to get services of experts for investigation of
Panama Papers allegations.

ISLAMABAD, Apr 27 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz
Sharif Wednesday said country’s economic policies were
welfare oriented and aimed at ensuring that the benefits of economic progress were delivered to the masses.

He was chairing a meeting of the Federal Cabinet here at
the Prime Minister’s Office that took up the agenda focused on the Budget Strategy for the financial year 2016 17.

The Cabinet after detailed discussion gave approval to
the budget strategy paper 2016 17, an official statement said.
The Prime Minister appreciated the fact that the overall
economic progress achieved during the last three years of the government had set the stage for further progress and development of the country.

Parliamentarians hail ICIJ's clarification regarding PM

LAHORE, April 27 (APP): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Members of Punjab Assembly Syed Zaeem Qadri, Rana Arshad, Khwaja Imran Nazir and Hina Pervaiz Butt on Wednesday said that International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)’s clarification had made it clear that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was an impechable character and had never owned or run any offshore company.
Talking to APP, they said the ICIJ had refuted the report, saying that name of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was inadvertently quoted in the Panama Papers; clarifying that  he (Nawaz Sharif) had never owned any offshore company.

They also hailed Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for clearing his family’s position regarding Panama Leaks allegation before the nation in his televised addresses.

Pakistan’s B3 rating reflects strengthening growth, progress on structural reforms: Moody

ISLAMABAD, Apr 27 (APP): Moody’s Investors Service in its
latest report Wednesday said that Pakistan’s B3 issuer rating balances strengthening growth and progress on structural reforms.

Moody’s conclusions were contained in its just released Credit
Analysis “Government of Pakistan—B3 Stable,” which looks at the
country’s credit profile in terms of Economic Strength .

Moody’s assessment of Pakistan’s “Moderate” economic strength
encompasses the sovereign’s very low per capita incomes and the large size of its economy. Economic output, previously anemic, has picked up over recent years and is now rising at a relatively healthy pace.

Cabinet strongly reacts to ICIJ’s baseless allegations

ISLAMABAD, April 27 (APP): The federal cabinet Wednesday strongly condemned the baseless allegations levelled by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and its reference to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, which has now been retracted and acknowledged as an editing error.

The Federal Cabinet in its meeting here at the PM Secretariat
demanded that the Consortium should fix responsibility and take immediate action.

A statement issued here said the Federal Cabinet reposed complete faith and confidence in the the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The Cabinet also lauded that the Prime Minister has presented himself and his family before the Supreme Court of Pakistan, for accountability.
