UN mediated Yemen peace talks make some progress: Envoy

UNITED NATIONS, May 15 (APP): In his latest update on the Yemeni peace talks currently under way in Kuwait, the United Nations envoy for the conflict torn country reported that the two delegations discussed proposals to bridge the gap between their respective visions, reaching consensus on some issues.

“Progress is being achieved, albeit at a relatively slow pace,” the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, said.

The special envoy noted that the heads of the two delegations and other senior delegates discussed issues such as security arrangements and the political process needed to reach an agreement.

Drama ‘Had Kar Di Ap Ney’ staged at RAC

RAWALPINDI, May 14 (APP): A play on social issue ‘Had Kar Di Ap Ney’
was staged under the auspices of Rawalpindi Arts Council.

The play written by M. Aslam Bhatti and directed by Munawar Afridi,
focused on breach in relationship due to greed of wealth.

Munawar Afridi, Naeem Tota,Shahid Kodo, Shahzad Papu, Mishal, Noor,
Sawera, Iqbal Jani, Vicky, Iqbal and Asif were included in the caste.

CPEC to create new opportunities for investment and trade

CHICAGO, May 14 (APP): Pakistan and China are on track towards
opening up a world of trade and investment opportunities by building
road, railway and energy connections between the Pakistani port city
of Gwadar and the Chinese city of Kashgar, Consul General Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has said.

In a speech on “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) – A world
of Opportunities” at an event, he said that this project wpould bring progress and prosperity to the region.

The event — organized at the Consulate General of Pakistan in
collaboration with Central Asian Productivity Research Center (CAPRC),
Chicago — was attended by a number of of chief executive officers
(CEOs) of Chicago-based businesses, business analysts, members of
CAPRC and representatives of Illinois Chamber of Commerce.

Imran pioneer of offshore companies: Pervaiz

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (APP): Federal Minister for Information,
Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday said
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was a pioneer of
making offshore companies in Pakistan.

Addressing a news conference here, the minister said no offshore company was owned by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarians, ministers and the Prime Minister while maximum number of PTI members had such frims.

He said the PTI chief was ‘Baba Adam’ of offshore companies, who
concealed truth and promoted falsehood. It was strange that he
had remembered the runs made and wickets taken during 1983, but forgot about the offshore company set up by him that year, he added.

Survey enlisting needy people to be launched soon: Marvi

PESHAWAR, May 14 (APP): Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Marvi Memon Saturday said a survey would be started soon to enlist needy and deserving residing in far flung areas under the directives of Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sahrif.
Talking to women in Lakki Marwat, she said that survey would be started in Lakki Marwat, Haripur and Mohmand Agency.
She said that government is making incessant efforts to address poverty level by helping deserving people of remote areas at their doorstep.

Mr. Pakistan, Jr Mr. Pakistan contests in Swat on Sunday

PESHAWAR, May 14 (APP): All is set to hold Mr. Pakistan and Junior Mr. Pakistan Bodybuilding contests for the first time in the history of the game will be held at Swat on Saturday.

This was stated by Secretary Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation Tariq
Pervez while talking to APP on phone from Swat. He said all arrangements have already been completed and more than 100 musclemen reached scenic valley district Swat.

He said as desired by the Minister Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan, the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation have completed all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event with the strong support of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bodybuilding Federation.

Rain likely in different parts of country

However, isolated rain dust-thunderstorms is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan divisions, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore Divisions, Islamabad, upper FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

US Exim Bank willing to finance 3600 MW LNG based power plants

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (APP): Finance Minister Senator Mohammad
Ishaq Dar has expressed strong interest in providing financing for the three LNG-based power plants at Baloki, Bhikki and Haveli Bahadar Shah in Pakistan.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Finance said here on Saturday that Vice President of United States (US) Exim Bank, Annette Maresh had indivated this in a letter addressed to Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

It may be recalled that Finance Minister had started engagement with US Exim Bank during his visit to the US in September 2015, according to statement issued by Ministry of Finance here.

Elimination of corruption to ensure rapid development: President

KOTRI, May 14 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain Saturday
underlined the need to uproot corrupt elements from the system in order to ensure rapid development and progress in the country.

The President said that the journey of national progress
was satisfactory till 1970s but afterwards, the pace of development was stunted because of corruption.

The President observed that the country had no shortage of
talented and capable people, but corruption and favoritism affected the performance.

He was addressing a ceremony of Kotri Association of Trade
and Industry here. Sindh Minister for Industry Muhammad Ali Malkani and others were also present on the occasion, said a press release.

190 Pakistanis deported from Greece to Turkey: Pak Embassy

Pakistan expresses condolences over loss of lives in Cambodia's flash floods

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (APP): Two batches. consisting 190
Pakistanis, had been deported from Greece to Turkey, said
Pakistan Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

It also termed the information as incorrect which
had put the numbers of deported Pakistanis to 500.

Out of 55 batch, a total of 31 were repatriated to
Pakistan whereas other 159 would be repatriated after
verification of their national identity and subsequent completion of other formalities, said a press release of the Foreign Office, referring to Embassy’s clarification on Saturday.

The Turkish authorities have also refuted claims
that the detainess were without food, it added.
