24 criminals arrested

SARGODHA, Jan 08 (APP):Sargodha police after launching a massive and comprehensive crackdown against the criminals arrested 24 criminals including 12 proclaimed offenders, four court absconders and several others.
Police said that different police teams raided in the areas under their jurisdiction and held Imran, Ahmed, Nouman, Naeem, Shakeel,Raheel,Rehman,Rehmat, Amjed, Adnan,Iqbal, Saqib, Saqlain, Majeed and others .
Police also recovered 345 liters liquor, 200 empty bottles, 12 pistols, 11 rounds,110 bullets,2.4 kg hashish,2.3 kg heroine and valuables worth in millions of rupees from them.
Further investigation was under way.

Six arrested for selling petrol on higher rates

SARGODHA, Jan 08 (APP):The district administration arrested six people for selling petrol and fuel against control rates.
According to the spokesperson here on Monday,during a crackdown against petrol pumps and fuel agencies,the teams raided various pumps at Islam Pura,49 NB, Shaheenabad road and held six owners for selling fuel on higher rates.
They were identified as — Shahid, Arslan, Naveed, Farooq, Ajmal and Naeem.
Further investigation was under way.

KP CM condemns explosion on police van in Bajaur

PESHAWAR, Jan 08 (APP):Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Arshad Hussain Shah on Monday strongly condemned a bomb explosion near a police van in district Bajaur.
The CM expressed the loss of precious lives in the terrorist attack and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyrs. He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyr’s patience for the bereaved families.
He directed the district administration to ensure the timely provision of medical aid to those injured in the blast.
Syed Arshad Hussain said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has made eternal sacrifices for the protection of people’s lives and property, adding that such cowardly incidents could not demoralize the police.
The people of the province and the government salute the sacrifices of the police, said the Chief Minister and vowed that the families of the martyrs would not be left alone rather they would be supported in every possible way.

Expert on ‘Cervical Cancer awareness month’ emphasize importance of early diagnosis, annual screening

ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP):Health experts on ‘Cervical Cancer Awareness Month’ emphasized public for the importance of early diagnosis, annual screening and encouraged parents to vaccinate their daughters against cervical cancer if they are between the ages of
15 to 26 years as if treated early curable rate is more than 92 percent.
 Talking to the PTV news channel, an expert on Women’s diseases Dr Irum Yasir said that Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is an important opportunity to share evidence-based information, and promote vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) and screening.
  January is cervical cancer awareness month, and Pakistan is doing its part to provide high-end oncology care services and raise awareness through media platforms, she added.Cervical cancer is a preventable condition that, if caught early, can be treated with improved therapy, she said.
Dr also advised the media to create awareness about cervical cancer and stressed the importance of educating the public about the risk of transmitted diseases.
Replying to a query, she said if cervical cancer is detected early, it is often highly treatable, adding, that treatment options may include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
 It is important for women to talk to their healthcare provider about their options and make a treatment plan that is right for them, she urged.
 It is important for women to take steps to protect themselves and their health by getting vaccinated and getting regular screenings, she concluded.

GB to host ‘winter sports festival’ from January 15 : Minister

ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP):Gilgit Baltistan’s Minister of Planning and Development Raja Nasir Ali Khan Monday said that the snow-covered GB region to host a seven-day long ‘Winter sports festival’ from January 15 to 25 to draw millions of local and foreign tourists where more than fifty-two teams including 12  female athletes will participate in the event.
Talking to the PTV news channel, the minister of GB said that the event aims to showcase the region’s beauty and highlight the soft image of Pakistan around the world, adding, that Gilgit-Baltistan has also inaugurated ‘the Ice Hockey Championship’ in the winter sports festival this year.
He said the potential of Gilgit-Baltistan will host major international events, including the Asian Games and the 2026 Olympics, showcasing Pakistan positively on the global stage.
He said these winter sports have historically remained popular across GB, like ice skating, Skiing etc.
Replying to a question, he said hundreds of athletes from different ten districts would take part in the seven-day event, adding,  they would be competing in skating, ice hockey, and ice curling.
The government pay attention to winter sports in GB, which will boost Pakistan’s image internationally, while also benefiting the local community in numerous ways, he added.
To another question, he said to promote local culture and entrepreneurs, “the festival also includes several stalls of traditional dresses, food and handicrafts which is an added attraction for the tourists and an advantage for the locals.”
The hotel and guest house associations of GB will provide quality services for guests to attend the festival, he mentioned.
He further ensured that we would provide all types of facilities for tourists such as easy access to destinations, better roads, clean hotels and guest rooms, and trained human resources.
He pointed out that the unregulated influx of tourists caused nuisance of traffic jams and disruption of the civic system. In this regard, we have proposed proper management and development of new tourist destinations to shift the quantum of visitors.
He also called for raising awareness among the general public to be kind towards the environment while exploring tourist places during the seven-day long festival.
He termed security and a peaceful environment significant factors in promoting tourist activities in the country.

IED powerful Bajaur blast martyred two police officials, injured several

ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP):Two police officials were martyred and several sustained injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) powerful blast near a police vehicle in the Mamond Belot area of Bajaur Tehsil in Peshawar on early Monday.
According to police, the policemen were going to provide security to polio vaccination teams when an IED planted on the roadside went off, as a result, two police officials were martyred and injured several, a PTV news channel reported.
The injured were shifted to Khar Hospital where emergency has been declared.
Hospital sources said that the number of casualties might increase as the condition of some injured people was serious.
Security forces and political administration kicked off a search operation in the area.

Rescue 1122 Tank tackles 18 emergencies last week

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 08 (APP):The district’s emergency service- rescue 1122, Tank handled a total of 18 emergencies over the last week while registering average response time at seven minutes.
The spokesman of the rescue 1122 Tank while sharing the weekly performance report said on Monday the rescue service the total emergencies included 15 medical, one road traffic accident, two, one fire eruption and emergency was recovery-related.
He said the control room received a total of 403 calls including 18 those of emergency and 149 were irrelevant calls.
He said that rescue 1122 service also provided services in 23 referral-related emergencies including two within the district and in 21 emergencies patients were shifted to other districts
He said the rescue 1122 teams were fully equipped with all necessary equipment and they had been efficiently rendering their services during emergencies.

Zeeshan Bhatti lifts National Tenpin Bowling Championship title

ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 (APP): Rising bowler Zeeshan Bhatti from Karachi lifted the Men’s Singles title of the 16th National Tenpin Bowling Championship after beating Waqar Abdul Qadir Parkh in the final here at Leisure City Bowling Club, Jinnah Park on late Sunday.
Ali Nauman and Faisal Feroze ended third and fourth, respectively.

In the final, Zeeshan scored 358 points, while Waqas Parkh collected 331 points. It was Zeeshan’s first appearance of in the national championship. At the end of the final, Mohammad Riaz Khan Turkalani along with Hamad Khan and President of Pakistan Ten Pin Bowling Federation (PTBF) Ijaz-ur Rahman distributed prizes among the players.

Ali Saldira and Ibrahim Saldira won the men’s doubles event. In the men’s doubles event, Shabbir Lashkarwala and Aleem Agha secured the second position while Ayan Bhatti and Waqas Parkh finished third.

Similarly, Ibrahim Saldira won the amateur title while Tayyab Bilal and Azazur Rahman secured the second and third positions respectively.

Umar won the men’s deaf title, while Wajid and Adeel ended second and third respectively. In the women’s deaf competition, Zahra got the first position, Noor Al-Ain took the second position, and Asma remained third.

Commenting on his performance, Zeeshan Zeeshan said: “I am happy with my performance. It was a tough competition as the top 16 players were featuring in it.

“It was my first participation and winning the title in first appearance is a great achievement for me at the national level. I will remain focused on my game and will work hard to represent Pakistan at international level.”

Waqas Parkh said: “It was a thrilling final showdown. Zeeshan did very well to annex the title. I congratulate him on this victory. The first round score was leveled 159-159 but he did well in the second round and hit a couple of strike to win the championship.”

NA Speaker calls on PM Kakar

ANF recovers 75 kg drugs in six operations

RAWALPINDI, Jan 08 (APP): Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting six operations across the country managed to recover 75 kg of drugs in six operations and arrested four accused, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Monday.

He informed that 700 grams of Ice drug was recovered from a passenger’s trolley bag at Bacha Khan International Airport.

The accused was leaving for Doha by flight number QR-601.

60 kg hashish and 2.5 kg Ice were recovered from the Shahdara Lahore area and an accused was arrested during the operation.

A total of 10 kg of hashish was recovered in two separate operations near the Khar border in the Bajaur area.

2.4 kg hashish was recovered from the possession of a motorcycle rider in Peshawar and an accused was arrested.

500 ecstasy tablets were recovered from an accused in Peshawar Mor Rawalpindi.

Cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act have been registered against the arrested accused and further investigations are under process.
