Anti-polio drive to start from January 08

LARKANA, Jan 07 (APP): A six-day National polio campaign will start from January 08 to January 14, 2024, in the Larkana district in which more than 306,950 children of the district up the five years of age will be vaccinated with Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV).
All-out arrangements have been finalized for the National Immunization Campaign of Polio to save the children from the crippling disease of Polio.
This was disclosed by the District Health Officer (DHO) Larkana Dr. Syed Attar Hussain Shah here on Sunday evening.
He said the children up to five years of age would be administered Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) during the seven-day campaign.
He said 890 mobile teams have been constituted which would visit all the areas including the remote, far-flung areas and flood/rain-affected areas of the district to accomplish the task.
He further said that three (5) Roaming polio teams have also been constituted in Larkana city to cover children during the day’s campaign.
DHO Larkana said that thirty 90 transit polio teams have also been constituted in the district in this regard and they would be available at Railway Stations, Bus stops and various markets of the district during the 07-day anti-polio campaign.
He exhorted the parents to be cooperative with the visiting mobile polio teams to make the national anti-polio campaign a complete success.
He also urged the religious scholars, elected representatives, NGOs and local community to make this campaign successful by involving their all-possible efforts so that the children of the whole district could be immunized against this crippling disease.

CM orders early completion of Children Hospital upgrade

LAHORE, Jan 07 (APP): Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid a detailed visit to the Children Hospital and reviewed progress on the upgradation work of the medical facility.
On the direction of the CM, upgradation work in the emergency, main corridor and other wards of the hospital has been expedited.
The chief minister inspected the main corridor, reception counter and checked the quality of work and directed to ensure quality along with undertaking preventive measures in the electricity and air conditioning wiring work.
He directed to complete the wiring work in three days and early completion of tiles installation work in the main corridor.
Mohsin Naqvi lauded the performance of the Secretary Communication & Works, Secretary Health and their team on undertaking swift work in the main corridor.
He met with the labourers working late night and commended them for working with diligence. He issued directions for early completion of the ongoing upgradation work.
Mohsin Naqvi said that task for the provision of better facilities in more than 100 hospitals of Punjab would be completed by 31st January. “The whole team is striving day and night to accomplish this task.
The fruit of  hard work with a noble intention would definitely be passed on to the people,” he maintained. The Secretary C&W and Secretary Health gave a briefing about the work being done under the upgradation project.
He said that installation of tiles and finishing work had been started.
Provincial Minister for Information Amir Mir, Secretary C&W, Secretary Health, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner and officials concerned were also present.

KP-EZDMC launches mobile app to facilitate investors

PESHAWAR, Jan 07 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC) has launched a digital mobile app to make the services of the company easily accessible to investors and industrialists.
The launching of the digital mobile app is being considered a milestone towards the facilitation of investors and industrialists as the required services, facilities and information of the company would now be available on it. With this initiative, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the first province in the country, to introduce such a unique kind of comprehensive and useful app for industrialization in the public sector.
The app was formally launched by the KP Caretaker Minister for Industries, Commerce and Technical Education, Dr Aamer Abdullah at the headquarters of KP-EZDMC, the other day, said an official press release issued here on Sunday. Besides, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) KP-EZDMC, Javed Iqbal Khattak, and other senior management of the company were also present on the occasion.
It is worth to mention here that the Provincial Caretaker Minister for Industries, Commerce and Technical Education, Dr Aamer Abdullah had assigned this task of online availability of the services to the company, which has been achieved by the IT section of the company within a short period of two weeks.
Addressing the launching ceremony of the app, the provincial minister appreciated the performance of the management and whole team of the company and termed it a visible step towards the facilitation of industrialists and investors of the industrial sector in the province.
He said that through this project, the public sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken a lead over other provinces of the country, for which he said the whole team of the KP-EZDMC deserves appreciation.
The provincial minister directed making the digital online facility efficient and accessible with time, wherein all required services and information regarding industries and investment are available.
He further directed the inclusion of the existing rules regulations and by-laws of the company as a compulsory segment for the use of the app.
He said that the app should also have complete data on vacant plots in all economic zones of the province and make the attractive incentives easily accessible to intending investors and give a deadline of one week to the company for the completion of the task.
On this occasion, the provincial minister was told that in the first phase, the digital app would be available only on Android phones and after a few weeks, its availability would also be guaranteed on Apple.
He was told that the required information regarding the company and two aspects of the required services from the company have been included in the app while industrial facilitation, industrial projects, the latest information, assistance & cooperation and feedback have also been included in it. Similarly, the intending investors could also submit online applications for plots.
Meanwhile, the caretaker minister also presided over a meeting regarding matters relating to the affairs of the newly established economic zone in Chitral. During the meeting, the provincial minister was informed in detail regarding the completion of the concerned economic zone and issues relating to the provision of electricity to it.
The provincial minister was told that the Chitral Economic Zone is fully ready for industrialization wherein 35 plots have already been allotted. However, it required the provision of electricity as soon as possible. In this connection, he was told that a proposal of the provision of one mega-watt green energy is under consideration, which for the time being is sufficient for several years.
In this connection, the caretaker minister directed the management of the company to review all technical aspects of this model and after completion of feasibility present it to the board of directors for implementation.

APHC expresses concern over continued illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders

ISLAMABAD, Jan 7 (APP): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders languishing in different jails of India and Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The APHC spokesman in a statement said that the freedom-loving people of Kashmir have been facing the worst type of Indian state terrorism.
The spokesman urged the United Nations Human Rights Council and other rights organisations to visit IIOJK and monitor the worst situation where people are being imprisoned in their houses, having no right to talk and walk freely in the territory.

ECP secretary to resume duties after recovery: Spokesman

In response to rumours surrounding the resignation of the ECP secretary, the ECP spokesman clarified that the Election Commission’s work is being efficiently handled by the two Special Secretaries during the Secretary’s absence.

Secretary Omar Hamid Khan is an intelligent and hardworking officer who has fulfilled his responsibilities admirably, the spokesman added.

He mentioned that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is operating seamlessly, ensuring continuous functioning even on holidays, with its offices diligently engaged in their tasks.
