Interior Minister greets Arshad Nadeem

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Monday congratulated Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem for winning silver medal at World Athletic Championship.

In his message, he said the nation was proud of Arshad Nadeem for making history by wining silver medal.

The minister said, Arshad’s victory once again uplifted name of the country at the world stage.

Arsahd despite injury and meager resources won the first medal for Pakistan in World Athletic Championship, said the minister while wishing the athlete all the best for future.

Pakistan earns US $947m from travel services’ export during FY2023: PBS

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): The country earned US $947.040 million by providing different travel services in various countries during the fiscal year 2022-23.

This shows a growth of 74.68 per cent as compared to the US $542.170 million worth same services provided during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year 2021-22, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

During the period under review, personal travel services increased by 74.11 per cent, from US $539.120 million last year to US $938.670 million during July-June 2023.

Among the personal services, the exports of health-related expenditure surged by 36.01 per cent to US $4.570 million from US $3.360 million while the education-related expenditure also rose by 7.70 per cent from US $ 10.780 million to US $11.610 million.

Meanwhile, the PBS data revealed that the exports of business services grew by 174.43 per cent, from US$ 3.050 million to US$ 8.370 million.

It is pertinent to mention here that the exports of services from the country, witnessed a decrease of 8.09 per cent during the first month of financial year (2023-24) as compared to the corresponding period of last year, it added.

The exports of services during July (2023-24) were recorded at US$ 2,068 million against the exports of US$ 2,250 million during the same month of last year.

The imports of the country witnessed a decline of 25.62 per cent, falling from US$ 4,981 million last year to US$ 3,705 million during the month under review.

KARACHI, Aug 28 (APP):The Pakistan Rangers Sindh and Police in a joint intelligence based operation in Murtaza Chowrangi area of the megalopolis arrested four allegedly involved in extortion collection.
Arrested were identified as Muhammad Bilal alias Sardar, Leri Khan alias Haider Bugti, Abid Ali and Jameel Ahmed, according to spokesman for Rangers on Monday.
The arrested confessed collecting extortion in Godown Chowrangi, Bilal Colony and other areas from the factory owners by threatening them. They also used to get their men hired in the factories.
Raids were being carried out to arrest their other accomplices. They have been handed over to police for further legal proceedings.

DG KHAN, Aug 28 (APP):The District Health Authority of DG Khan is committed to ensuring quality medical services for citizens.
Responding to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mehr Shahid Zaman Lak’s guidance, proactive measures have been initiated to safeguard residents of Koh-e-Sulaiman from malaria, aiming to diagnose and treat malaria effectively.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Health Dr Idris Laghari has furnished 2000 malaria kits. With the arrival of these kits, malaria testing is now offered free of cost across all hospitals within the Tehsil Tribal Area.
Notably, Dr Laghari has also urged Punjab Health Facilities Management Company’s Manager Abid Ali to ensure comprehensive medical support and kit distribution to the tribal community.
This initiative underscores the district’s dedication to public health and well-being.

Man stabbed to death by relatives over land dispute

MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 28 (APP):A person was allegedly stabbed to death by relatives over a land dispute in Jhugi Wala Chowk, Tehsil Jatoi.
According to details, a person named Fayaz Ghazlani had a land dispute with his cousins Imtiaz and Abdul Shakoor in Jhugi Wala Chowk.
On the incident day, they killed him with a sharp-edge knife and managed to escape from the crime scene.
Upon receiving the information, a heavy police contingent reached the spot. The police crime unit and forensic teams collected the evidence.
The dead body was shifted to THQ Hospital Jatoi for autopsy, and legal action has started.

Citizen deprives of car

Police said that a citizen namely Sana ullah r/o Muraad colony lodged a complaint that he parked his car outside his home when some outlaws robbed the vehicle during day time.
Police registered case and launched investigation.

President felicitates Arshad Nadeem on winning silver at World Athletics Championship

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP):President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday congratulated Arshad Nadeem on winning silver medal for Pakistan in javelin throw at World Athletics Championship.

“First Pakistani to win a medal at this event. Threw 87.82m, only 0.35m less than gold medalist Neeraj Chopra of India. Qualified for 2024 Paris Olympics. Proud of you,” the president said on X (formerly known as twitter).

Pakistan’s javelin ace Arshad Nadeem won a silver medal in the Javelin Throw competition of the World Athletics Championship on Sunday in Hungary’s capital Budapest.

Nadeem made his best throw of 87.82m in his third attempt and secured the medal, a private news channel reported.

PFA seals factory, seizes substandard ghee, oil

DG KHAN, Aug 28 (APP):In a resolute move to uphold food quality and safety, the Punjab Food Authority conducted a decisive raid at a factory and confiscated a significant 5000 kilograms of substandard ghee, alongside 1000 liters of oil, here Monday.
Not stopping at just seizing the compromised products, the PFA took immediate action to seal the factory, emphasizing its commitment to preventing any compromise on public health.
Official sources from the PFA stated, “This assertive action underscores the authority’s unwavering stance against the person involved in selling substandard eatables.”
With a steadfast determination, the PFA officials declared that no one would be permitted to jeopardize the lives of the people through the distribution of substandard food items.
“This operation serves as a stark warning that the crackdown on the sale of substandard goods was not a one-time endeavor but a continuous effort. “

In-charge DSB martyred in Karak encounter

PESHAWAR, Aug 28 (APP):A police official of the District Security Branch (DSB) was martyred when he received a fatal bullet shot during an encounter with proclaimed offenders in district Karak on Monday.
Police said the unfortunate incident took place in Gaddi Khel area in the vicinity of Shah Saleem police station where the in-charge of the District Security Branch, Rehmanullah was critically injured during an encounter with proclaimed offenders.
Rehmanullah was rushed to Karak Hospital, he succumbed to his injury on the way to the hospital. Soon after the incident, a large contingent of police force reached the site and cordoned off the area to apprehend the perpetrators.
