Energy Ministry finalizes recommendations on electricity bills: Solangi

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi on Monday said that the Ministry of Energy had finalized recommendations related to the electricity bills.

The recommendations were finalized in a high-level meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, the minister said while posting a news release of the ministry on X (formerly known as Twitter).

According to his post, the recommendations would be forwarded to the Federal Cabinet, scheduled to meet on Tuesday, for approval.

Arshad Nadeem makes entire nation proud: Wahab Riaz

LAHORE, Aug 28 (APP):Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz said on Monday that the whole nation was proud of ace javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem feat.
He said this in a message issued here while congratulating Arshad Nadeem for winning a historic silver medal in the World Athletics Championship javelin throw event held in Budapest, Hungary.
Wahab Riaz said that all the Pakistanis are quite upbeat that Arshad will clinch the gold medal in the Paris Olympic Games. “In the shape of Arshad, Pakistan has got a new ray of hope of winning a coveted gold medal in the Olympics,” he added.
He said that Pakistan Arshad fought well with the Indian opponent till the last throw. “The national hero will be accorded a grand welcome on his return home”.
Wahab Riaz also congratulated the national Blind cricket team for winning the World Blind Games cricket title. “The national blind cricket team has made the whole nation proud by defeating arch-rivals India in the final. The national blind team remained undefeated in the event,” he added.

Meanwhile  Director General Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail has felicitated Pakistan’s star jArshad Nadeem for winning silver medal in World Athletics Championship.
javelin throw event held in Budapest, Hungary.
He said that Arshad exhibited his best performance in the javelin throw final with Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra. “Arshad Nadeem has won the hearts of the nation and hopefully he will grab a gold medal in the Paris Olympic Games,” he added.

Hot , dry weather likely in most plain areas of country:PMD

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Monday forecast mainly hot and dry weather for most plain areas of the country during the next 24 hours.

However, rain-wind/thundershower is expected at few places in Kashmir and its adjoining areas.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave was still affecting upper parts of the country and likely to move eastwards during next 24 hours.

During the last 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country.

However, rain-wind/thundershower occurred in Islamabad, Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.

PM directs to accelerate execution of identified projects under SIFC

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Monday directed the authorities concerned to accelerate the realisation of identified projects by capitalising the enabling environment already achieved through Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The prime minister was chairing the 4th Apex Committee Meeting of SIFC – the inaugural meeting under the caretaker government – to continue positive impetus under the Council.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff, entire federal cabinet, chief ministers, provincial ministers and high-level government officials.

The meeting was given a wholesome review of SIFC initiatives encompassing progress in key areas and benchmarks achieved thus far in a short span of time.

Prime Minister Kakar appreciated the efficient functioning of SIFC through a collaborative “Whole of Government Approach” for achieving horizontal and vertical synergy.

The Apex Committee appreciated SIFC’s outreach strategy to achieve global traction and ongoing engagements with brotherly / friendly countries including productive visits of high-level delegations from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS).

The Apex Committee expressed confidence on SIFC initiatives and displayed its resolve and support in maintaining the positive trajectory towards revival of the country’s economy.

The body also endorsed the projects, approved by previous government, for attracting investments in key sectors of agriculture, livestock, mining, minerals, information technology and energy.

The army chief reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s all-out support to caretaker government for continuity of policies in a bid to revive country’s economy and steer Pakistan towards progress and prosperity.

BISP conducts E-Kachehri to address beneficiaries’ concerns

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) on Monday conducted E-Kachehri to address the grievances of the beneficiaries, in order to improve service delivery.

This virtual event aims to directly engage with beneficiaries and address their concerns in real-time, reinforcing BISP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.

The E-Kachehri, received an overwhelming response from beneficiaries all across the country.

This enthusiastic participation underscored the importance of such platforms for the people who rely on the vital support provided by BISP.

During the E-Kachehri, Addl. Secretary Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Dr. Muhammad Tahir Noor and his team tried to promptly address the majority of the complaints.

For the remaining grievances that required further attention, he directed the relevant authorities to ensure their resolution within one day, further emphasizing BISP’s commitment to responsive governance.

The BISP, through its flagship initiative Benazir Kafaalat, provides quarterly financial assistance of Rs 9,000 to nine million registered beneficiary families.

Additionally, registered families also benefit from stipends under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif and Benazir Nashonuma Programme, which collectively contribute to improving the socio-economic conditions of the most vulnerable segments of society.

In case of any complaint, the BISP encourages beneficiaries to reach out to the nearest BISP Tehsil Offices or contact the toll-free helpline at 0800-26477.

It is essential to note that official communication from the BISP only originates from the number 8171.

KU national conference urges developing coexisting culture in Pakistan

KARACHI, Aug 28 (APP):The speakers at the national conference organized by the University of Karachi on “interfaith harmony and co-existence: a solution to rising extremism and intolerance” urged to develop a coexisting culture in the country.
The event was held at the Chinese Teachers Memorial Auditorium (formally known as Arts Auditorium) on Monday, said a statement.
President of Sanatan Dharma International Society Professor Dr Manouj Chauhan shared that the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has served humanity.
He mentioned that war between good and evil is an ongoing phenomenon and it will continue forever.
 On this occasion, the KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mehmood Iraqi said that Islam gives every person the right to perform their worship freely according to their will. He mentioned we need to listen to and respect each other’s opinions to solve our problems.
“All the people living in the world should respect each other’s religion, and belief and do not disrespect their holy books and places of worship.”
Tushna Patel, the representative Parsi community on CM Sindh’s non-Muslim Welfare Committee, said that peace is a state of security and order within a community. Peace is a way of life in which we respect and love each other in spite of our cultural, religious, and political differences. Peace is essential for the progress of humanity and in general, peace is the absence of war.
 Sardar Amar Singh, who belongs to the Sikh community, said that all world religions teach peace, love, and brotherhood. The religious books of all religions reject linguistics, extremism, violence, and nihilism.
The KU Dean of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Dr Shaista Tabasim said that detailed and deliberated dialogues and discussion would be required to resolve the problem we are facing nowadays.
Another speaker, Dr Moshin Naqvi expressed that we have to understand and adopt the culture of interfaith harmony, and students and educational institutions can play a crucial role in promoting interfaith harmony in society.
The coordinator of the Conference Dr Aziz ur Rehman Saifee observed that interfaith harmony culture can be further promoted through encouraging dialogue culture in society.
