World Science Day for Peace and Development observed across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP):World Science Day for Peace and Development was observe on Monday across Pakistan, in line with global celebrations highlighting the vital role of science in promoting peace, progress, and sustainability.
This year’s theme, “Trust, Transformation, and Tomorrow: The Science We Need for 2050,” underscores the importance of scientific knowledge and innovation in addressing societal challenges and building a sustainable future.
The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) organized the central event to mark the day at the Auditorium of the Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH), in collaboration with UNESCO, the Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF), and the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS).
The commemoration brought together scientists, policymakers, researchers, and students to highlight the importance of public trust in science and its role in addressing global challenges through innovation and collaboration.
Public and private sector institutions across the country also held seminars, discussion programs, exhibitions, and awareness sessions to engage students and researchers in dialogue on science-led solutions for peace and development.
Speakers at various events emphasized the need to strengthen public confidence in science and promote a culture of research and evidence-based policymaking to ensure sustainable progress.
World Science Day for Peace and Development was established by UNESCO in 2001 following the World Conference on Science held in Budapest in 1999.
Observed annually on November 10, the day aims to bridge the gap between science and society, promote responsible use of scientific knowledge, and encourage international cooperation in tackling global challenges through research, education, and innovation.
