Women safest drivers, says CTO Hamza on Women’s Day as ITP promotes ‘Uraan’ school

ISLAMABAD, Mar 08 (APP):Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Captain (R) Hamza Humayun said women are the safest drivers and their empowerment and independence are essential for building a progressive society.
An ITP official told APP on Sunday that the CTO Hamzah shared these views in a special message while appreciating women and encouraging them to learn driving and travel independently.
He said many women working in offices or staying at home often hesitate to drive despite having the desire to learn, adding that Islamabad Traffic Police is providing them opportunities through the “Uraan Ladies Driving School.”
The CTO Hamzah said the steering wheel symbolises independence and decision-making, and women should confidently take control of their journey and move forward without hesitation.
Hamza Humayun said the purpose of launching the Uraan initiative was to break the stereotype that women are not safe drivers, adding that women are in fact among the safest drivers on the road.
He said Islamabad Traffic Police is striving to promote women’s independence and safe mobility through initiatives like the Uraan Ladies Driving School, which helps women become confident and skilled drivers.
The CTO paid tribute to women and said respect, independence and protection of women are the foundations of a healthy and progressive society.
He added that Islamabad Traffic Police would continue taking practical steps to empower women and ensure their safe and independent travel./APP-rzr-mkz
