ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 (APP):A webinar titled “India’s Fascist Attack: Life Sentences for Asiya Andrabi” was organized by the Friends of Kashmir, bringing together prominent political analysts, journalists, and Kashmir advocates to discuss the recent developments.
Speakers at the webinar strongly criticized the awarding of life sentences to Kashmiri leader Asiya Andrabi, describing it as a manifestation of India’s increasingly authoritarian and repressive policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), said a press release issued here.
Among the key participants were Dr Sameea Raheel Qazi of Jamaat-e-Islami, Nayla Altaf Kayani, anchor and host at PTV, Muzammil Ayub Thakur, Chairman World Kashmir Freedom movement, Ali Raza Syed Chairman Kashmir Council EU, Hurriyet Leaders Shaikh Abdul Mateen, Abdul Hameed Lone, and Kashmiri Activist Dr Syed Mujahid Gilani.
The speakers collectively termed the sentencing as politically motivated and aimed at silencing dissenting voices in the region.
They emphasized that such actions reflect a broader pattern of shrinking democratic space and suppression of fundamental human rights.
Participants highlighted the need for the international community to take serious notice of the situation in Kashmir and hold India accountable for what they described as systematic human rights violations.
They also urged global human rights organizations to intervene and ensure justice and protection for political prisoners.
The webinar concluded with a call for continued advocacy, awareness, and diplomatic efforts to address the Kashmir issue and support the rights of its people.
