UK High Commissioner visits NEOC at NDMA Headquarters

United Kingdom High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott CMG OBE, visited the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters, where she was received by Chairman NDMA, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 09 (APP):United Kingdom High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott CMG OBE, visited the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters, where she was received by Chairman NDMA, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik.
The visit focused on an overview of Pakistan’s disaster preparedness architecture, early warning mechanisms, and the technological capabilities of NEOC for monitoring and response coordination.

During the visit, the High Commissioner was briefed on NDMA’s Disaster Early Warning and Technology Ecosystem, including digital portals and operational dashboards functioning at the NEOC. Chairman NDMA, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, highlighted NDMA’s role as the lead national coordinating body for disaster management, emphasizing preparedness, anticipatory actions, and whole-of-government coordination to address evolving disaster risks.

The delegation was also briefed on Lens Pakistan 2026, outlining seasonal hazard patterns and preparedness priorities, followed by insights into the Global Disaster Lens 2026 and the Global Disaster Calendar. NDMA’s Global Disaster App and key national initiatives for early warning dissemination, risk communication, academic collaboration, Global and Regional Collaborations and technology-driven disaster management were also presented.

Jane Marriott appreciated the integrated and technology-enabled approach adopted by NDMA to strengthen disaster risk reduction and national preparedness. She commended the Authority’s focus on innovation, inter-agency coordination, and evidence-based planning to mitigate the impacts of disasters in an era of increasing climate risks.

Both sides also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in the areas of disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and humanitarian coordination.
The visit concluded with the presentation of a souvenir and a group photograph, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthening disaster resilience and preparedness through continued collaboration.
