FAISALABAD, Jan 29 (APP):The Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), under its other development projects framework for the fiscal year 2025-26, has selected University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) as the lead university for two Research and Development (R&D) clusters and as a partner university for five research and development clusters.
University spokesman said here on Thursday that UAF will serve as the lead institution in the Food and Nutrition cluster; and the Migration and Labor Affairs cluster.
The UAF achievement marks a significant academic milestone under the province-wide higher education reforms led by Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan (HI, SI), Chairperson, Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), he added.
UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali has congratulated the campus community on this achievement and hoped that it will open up new horizon of development by addressing the issues of farming community and the country.
As per notification, Prof Dr Muhammad Issa Khan, Director General National Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFSAT) will work as Principal Investigator for Food and Nutrition, while Dr Sadaf Mehmood, Chairperson Department of Rural Sociology, will lead the Migration and Labor Affairs cluster.
UAF has also been selected as a partner university in five R&D clusters, including Public Policy and Economic Development; Water; Renewable Energy; Education; and Climate Change.
Dr Asif Kamran, Director Agriculture, Policy, Law and Governance Center will represent UAF in Public Policy and Economic Development cluster, Dr Muhammad Zaman, Director Water Management Research Center (WMRC), in the Water cluster, Prof Dr Muhammad Naveed, Director Punjab Bioenergy Institute (PBI) in the Renewable Energy cluster; Dr Alhafiza Shafia Tehseen Gul, Director Academics, in education cluster while Prof Dr Abdul Wakeel from Soil Sciences will represent UAF in the Climate Change cluster.
