ISLAMABAD, Mar 5 (APP):Turkmenistan ambassador to Pakistan Atadjan Movlamov Tuesday called on Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan and discussed matters relating to mutual cooperation especially in the field of energy.
The minister apprised the envoy about investment-friendly policies introduced by Pakistan in diverse fields, which greatly helped in bringing foreign investment in the country, said a press release.
Omar informed that energy sector was one of the prime investment destination after the change in electricity consumption pattern and broadening of economic base of the country.
He apprised the envoy that new renewable energy policy was in the offing, which would attract huge investment in the sector.
The ambassador said investors in Turkmenistan were closely following the developments in Pakistan and were keen to invest in various flourishing sectors.
In addition to Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the envoy said he had also proposed electricity export to Pakistan through a transmission line via Afghanistan.
Since the rate of Turkmenistan proposed electricity is highly affordable, it will benefit Pakistan in many ways, the ambassador added.
The minister thanked the envoy for the proposal and assured that Pakistan after thorough homework will respond to the proposal.
