Tribunal allows Raza Gillani to contest election from PP-184

LAHORE, Jun 21 (APP):An appellate tribunal of the
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday accepted an appeal,
filed by former provincial minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani
against rejection of his nomination papers from PP-184
(Okara-2) and allowed him to contest election.
The tribunal comprising Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh
heard the appeal.
Earlier, Gillani’s counsel Waqar A Sheikh submitted
that the returning officer rejected the papers of his
client on charges of concealing a luxury car and income
tax on agricultural land from PP-184.
He pointed out that Gillani had already sold his car
and got it transferred in the name of the buyer and also
paid agricultural income tax.
He pleaded with the court to set aside the returning
officer’s decision and allow his client to contest election
from the constituency.
At this, the tribunal accepted the appeal and allowed
Gillani to contest election while setting aside the returning
officer’s decision.
