Central District Police arrest over 80 suspects in February

KARACHI, Mar 06 (APP):Central District Police carried out extensive operations against criminal elements during February, arresting more than 80 suspects involved in street crimes, robberies and other offences.
The district Central’s performance report, issued by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Dr Muhammad Imran Khan, said the operations were conducted under the directives of Additional Inspector General of Police – Karachi and DIGP West Zone.
According to the report, police confronted street criminals in 42 encounters during the month. One suspect was killed, 50 were arrested in injured condition and 32 were apprehended on the spot, bringing the total number of suspects taken into custody to 82.
Police also launched a crackdown on illegal weapons, registering 108 cases and arresting 107 suspects. During the operations, 104 pistols, two repeaters and 341 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Special campaigns against repeat offenders and robbers led to the arrest of 35 habitual offenders and 19 suspects involved in robbery cases.
The report further stated that police recovered stolen property including two cars, 22 motorcycles and 52 mobile phones and initiated the process of returning them to their rightful owners.
In intelligence-based operations against organised crime, police busted 24 gangs and arrested 107 suspects allegedly involved in various criminal activities.
Meanwhile, action against absconders and proclaimed offenders resulted in the arrest of 11 proclaimed offenders and 52 fugitives wanted in different cases.
During anti-narcotics operations, police registered 56 cases and arrested 75 suspects, recovering 13.5 kilogrammes of hashish, one kilogramme of ice and 255 grammes of heroin.
Police also intensified the crackdown against the sale of gutka and mawa, registering 62 cases and arresting 83 suspects. During the operations, 5,267 packets of gutka/mawa and 378 kilogrammes of betel nut were seized.
The report added that police traced 16 robbery and street crime cases reported in various areas, including New Karachi, F.B. Industrial Area, Sir Syed, North Karachi Industrial Area, Azizabad, Gulberg, Bilal Colony, Nazimabad and Shah Noor Jehan, leading to the arrest of the suspects involved.
The SSP said the district police remained committed to eliminating crime and ensuring the protection of citizens through continued professional and coordinated action.
