The Supreme Court of Pakistan will take up on March 31 a review petition filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) concerning his right of defense in a defamation case instituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 27 (APP): The Supreme Court of Pakistan will take up on March 31 a review petition filed by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) concerning his right of defense in a defamation case instituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
A fresh three-member bench has been constituted to hear the case, headed by Justice Hashim Khan Kakar and comprising Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.
According to the Registrar’s Office, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb has been included in the bench in place of Justice Ayesha Malik. Previously, a three-member bench led by Justice Ayesha Malik had been hearing the matter.
It is pertinent to mention that the PTI founder had approached the apex court after a trial court struck down his right of defense in the case. Earlier, a three-member bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had dismissed his plea. Subsequently, the PTI founder filed a review petition against that decision, which is now scheduled for hearing on March 31.
