ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (APP):The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday disposed off sou moto notice in connection with targetted killings in Dera Ismail Khan with directions to the law enforcement agencies to continue action against culprits.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, also directed them to submit progress reports to the court after every two months.
During course of proceedings, District Police Officer (DPO) briefed the bench on measures taken to curb sectarian violence. The senior police official said police had conducted joint operations with intelligence agencies in at least three tehsils of the district. He added that no case regarding target killing was reported in last two months.
The Chief Justice remarked, “I am surprised that why authorities become active when court takes notice of their negligence”. He however after getting assurance that agencies would be vigilant next time, disposed of the matter.
