LAHORE, Mar 07 (APP):Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that over 2.503 million Ramazan Nigehban cards have been distributed so far.
She was briefing the media, along with Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, on the ongoing development projects and Ramazan relief measures in the province, here on Saturday.
Azma Bokhari said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, development works have been started in every corner of Punjab and providing facilities to people is the top priority of the government. Iftar tables have been set up at 422 places across the province, while 2,503,897 Ramazan Nigehban Cards have also been distributed.
She said that work is underway on projects to lay sewer lines at 6,100 locations in Punjab, while a total of 2,265 kilometers of new sewer lines will be laid. In addition, 130 new disposal stations, 189 kilometers of reinforced water drains and 328 wastewater treatment plants will also be constructed. Rs. 13 billion have also been saved through transparent e-tendering.
According to the Information Minister, underground water tanks are being built to conserve rainwater, while wastewater treatment plants will also be installed in rural areas along with cleaning ponds and ditches.
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique said that construction of underground water tanks is underway to eliminate urban flooding and work has started on development projects in 67 cities at a cost of Rs. 517 billion. As many as 358 underground water tanks will not only conserve rainwater but will also be helpful in improving the groundwater level.
