Kachehri Chowk project reaches 70% completion, Nespak finalizes underpasses designs

A technical team of the National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) visited the Kachehri Chowk project and the proposed underpasses on Peshawar Road to review progress and technical aspects of the schemes.

RAWALPINDI, Mar 07 (APP):A technical team of the National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) visited the Kachehri Chowk project and the proposed underpasses on Peshawar Road to review progress and technical aspects of the schemes.

Kachehri Chowk project reaches 70% completion, Nespak finalizes underpasses designs

Led by Head PMU Rana Daud, the team conducted a detailed inspection of various technical components of the Kachehri Chowk remodeling project. Post completion traffic flow of the scheme was also examined in depth to assess its potential impact on easing congestion in the area.

After reviewing the site and technical details, the Nespak team issued necessary instructions to ensure smooth execution of the project.
Executive Engineer (EXEN) Punjab Highways Rana Qamar Ali, along with his team and all related service providers were also present on the occasion. Officials said the Kachehri Chowk project has reached around 70 percent completion.

Meanwhile, three underpasses will be constructed on Peshawar Road at Race Course Park Chowk, Army Graveyard Chowk and Charing Cross to improve traffic flow on one of the city’s busiest arteries.

Rana Qamar Ali confirmed APP that the work on the project will formally begin on March 28 when the area will be cordoned off and excavation activities will start.

According to the plan, construction of the underpasses will begin on one side of the road while traffic will be shifted to the other side. The diversion will be provided on one side to maintain two-way traffic flow during the construction phase.
The Nespak team also finalized the design of the underpasses during the visit. The project of underpasses has been targeted for completion by the end of June 2026.
Rana Daud expressed satisfaction over the pace of work so far, including technical investigation relocation of high-transmission electricity lines, and said the project was progressing smoothly.
