President offers Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Aiwan-e-Sadar

ISLAMABAD, Jun 7 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the Aiwan-e-Sadar here along with senior leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party and staff of the Presidency.
During the prayers, the President made supplications for the prosperity and development of the country. The president was flanked by former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, former chairman Senate, Syed Nayyar Bokhari, former chief minister Balochistan, Abdul Quddus Bizejno and others.
Earlier, in his message on the occasion, President Zardari extended his heartfelt felicitations to the entire Pakistani nation and the Muslim world on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. He said Eid-ul-Azha is a day to revive our faith, sacrifice, selflessness and spirit of brotherhood as it reminds us of the unparalleled obedience, sacrifice, submission and contentment of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
He said that the day reminded us that we should not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the sake of Allah, adding, “Our individual and collective success lies in obedience to Allah Almighty.
The president underscored that everyone needed to learn from the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and implement it in their lives.
He urged that at present it was imperative to become a support for the weak and deprived sections of society. “We should pledge that we will do everything possible to help everyone around us. We will always take care of the needy, sick, and poor,” the president said.
President Zardari called the nation to promote sacrifice, love, brotherhood and unity in their attitudes and as a nation, there was need to support each other, share each other’s pain and sorrow and make Pakistan a great and prosperous country.
The entire Pakistani nation has to reiterate the resolve that as a nation, it would cleanse its hearts of hatred and prejudice, he said. “May Allah Almighty accept our sacrifices in His court, grant peace, progress and prosperity to Pakistan,” the president prayed.
