Polio cases decline in Pakistan; 2nd vaccination campaign set for April 13–19

ISLAMABAD, Mar 30 (APP):Ministry for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination on Monday unveiled that number of polio cases in Pakistan decline significantly, announcing second anti-polio campaign to run from April 13 to 19.
Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio, Ayesha Raza Farooq, and Polio Coordinator Captain (R) Anwarul Haq met with the Federal Minister for Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal to discuss upcoming polio eradication campaign.
More than 45 million children will be administered polio drops during the upcoming polio campaign, Ministry stated.
Ministry has also noted that Positive results of ongoing measures to combat polio have begun to emerge.
During the briefing, Minister was apprised that results of 6 out of 12 sites in Karachi reported negative from polio. Several sites in Karachi including Keamari were also declared negative.
While discussing polio cases in Balochistan Province, Minister was informed that all 7 sites in Quetta block free of polio virus, adding results of 5 out of 6 sites in Ahour negative.
Mustafa Kamal focused on effective measures to eradicate polio in Pakistan and added it will soon be made polio-free through a coordinated strategy and public cooperation.
He reiterated government commitment to eradicate polio from Pakistan.
He urged the parents to fully cooperate with polio workers to protect the future of the nation.
