ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 (APP): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali on Thursday tendered an unconditional apology to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a case relating to violation of ballot secrecy during the Faisalabad by-election.
A three-member ECP bench, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, heard the matter. Abid Sher Ali appeared before the Commission to respond to the proceeding.
His counsel informed the bench that the PML-N leader had submitted a written apology, clarifying that Sher Ali had not uploaded the video on social media. The lawyer reiterated that the apology was unconditional.
The Commission reserved its verdict, with the Chief Election Commissioner noting that a decision would be made on whether to accept the apology. He added that if the plea was not accepted, further proceedings would follow.
