ISLAMABAD, Feb 27 (APP):The chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and secretary of Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) Tuesday committed to kick start the plantation drive in the surrounding areas of the Parliament House by Wednesday in order to further increase its beauty and greenery.
The CDA member planning told this to the Senate Committee on Climate Change and also informed that 194 trees were cut by the civic authority along the different roads due to high influx of traffic and three hundred thousands trees were being planted in the federal capital’s urban areas.
The secretary of MoCC apprised the committee that 10 thousands trees would be planted by the ministry under the Green Pakistan Project at various areas of Islamabad.
The inspector general of forest while intimating the committee about work on Botanical Gardens in Bani Galla said Minister of the Climate Change was taking much interest in this project and he had inaugurated its boulevard on January 11, that covered the area of 725 acre land and it would cost Rs10 million.
He said officials of Geological Survey of Pakistan were erecting the pillars of boulevard by following Geological Information System adding that it would be completed in 18 months.
The committee approved the National Disaster Management Amendment Bill 2017 , presented by Mian Muhammad Attique Sheikh, after thorough review.
The chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) told the committee that the authority in collaboration with The World Bank was going to establish National Disaster Information Centers to sensitize the masses regarding flood calamities, he added.
The committee headed by the Senator Mir Muhammad Yousaf Badini and also attended by other senators Ahmed Hassan, Muhammad Ali Saif , Stara Ayaz , Gul Bushra , Samina Saeed and other officials from quarters concerned.
