PFF elections held on May 27, 2025 : NA told

Parliamentary Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination Kiran Imran Dar on Monday informed the National Assembly that elections of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) were successfully held on May 27, 2025.

ISLAMABAD, Mar 09 (APP): Parliamentary Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination Kiran Imran Dar on Monday informed the National Assembly that elections of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) were successfully held on May 27, 2025.
Responding to questions during the Question Hour, she said the federation had faced serious administrative issues for many years.
She explained that under the federation’s constitution, a person could serve two terms of four years each as president.
However, when an individual tried to contest for a third term, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) did not recognize the election process and suspended its support. The issue later reached the Supreme Court, while FIFA also intervened.
Dar said FIFA appointed a Normalization Committee on September 13, 2019, to oversee the election process and restore an elected body in the federation. The committee’s tenure was extended several times, which delayed the elections for a number of years.
“During this period, football activities at the national level remained limited,” she told the House.
She said the present government made continuous efforts to complete the election process, which eventually resulted in the successful holding of elections on May 27, 2025.
The newly elected leadership of the federation is now working with the Pakistan Sports Board to revive football activities in the country, she added.
The parliamentary secretary said the PSB had not released any financial grants to the PFF during the last three years. During the tenure of the FIFA-appointed Normalization Committee and after the reconstitution of the federation, the PSB mainly supported football activities by providing infrastructure, training facilities and logistical assistance.
She said several international football matches were held at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad, including Pakistan’s matches against Cambodia (October 17, 2023), Tajikistan (November 21, 2023), Jordan (March 21, 2024),
Saudi Arabia (June 6, 2024), Afghanistan (October 9, 2025), and Syria (November 18, 2025).
The PSB also organized training camps for national teams, including a camp for the Under-17 Men’s National Team to prepare for the SAFF Championship in Sri Lanka, involving 43 players and coaches.
In addition, a training camp for the National Futsal Team was arranged ahead of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026, with the participation of 30 players and coaches.
Responding to a supplementary question, Kiran Imran Dar said the Pakistan Sports Board usually provided grants to sports federations when requested. However, the football federation had received significant funding from FIFA, which reduced its reliance on government grants.
She expressed hope that the newly elected federation leadership would help revive football in Pakistan and enable players to take part more actively in international competitions.
