PBM, MMBL sign agreement to introduce EBVS for beneficiaries

ISLAMABAD, Nov 4 (APP): In a significant step toward enhancing transparency and financial inclusion, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has officially signed an agreement with Mobilink Microfinance Bank ltd. (MMBL) to introduce electronic biometric verification system (EBVS) for beneficiaries under the organization’s social protection programs.
The agreement signing ceremony took place at PBM Head Office here on Tuesday, attended by Managing Director PBM Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt, CEO JazzCash Murtaza Ali and senior officials from both organizations, said a press release.
Director General Projects PBM Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Danish gave a detailed briefing about the ongoing social welfare missions of the organization. The collaboration aims to ensure secure, efficient, and transparent disbursement of financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries across the country. Under this partnership, MMBL will integrate biometric verification technology into its digital payment platform, enabling beneficiaries to receive funds through secure biometric authentication methods.
Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director PBM marked the initiative an imperative effort to modernize social protection system of the organization. He further added that “By leveraging biometric technology, we are ensuring that every beneficiary receives their rightful support in a timely and transparent manner.”
The MD further elaborated the biometric payment system would benefit more than 60 thousand deserving persons including widows, destitute and special friends/persons with disabilities, stipend to the registered female trainees of Women Empowerment Centers, subsistence assistance and student stipend to the parents of registered students of Schools for Rehabilitation of Child Labourers, Financial Assistance to the enrolled orphan children under “Orphans and Widows Support Programme and emergency cash transfer in case of natural disasters, accidents and epidemic diseases.
Capt. Shaheen also expressed his enthusiasm to act in accordance with the federal government’s Uraan Pakistan Plan under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif accelerating digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency, promote innovation, and improve Pakistan’s competitiveness on the global stage.
CEO JazzCash Murtaza, Ali while expressing his passion partnering country’s largest social welfare organization, articulated his resolution in implementing efficient and transparent Electronic Biometric Verification System for the poorest of the poor masses of the country.
