ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP):The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Monday held its 248th meeting, chaired by Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan in his capacity as Chairman of the Council.
According to an official statement, the Council conducted a secret ballot to elect its Vice Chairman for 2026. Peer Muhammad Masood Chishti secured 15 votes, while Qazi Muhammad Arshad received 8 votes. With a clear majority, Peer Muhammad Masood Chishti was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council for the year 2026.
The statement further noted that Munir Ahmed Malik from Karachi was elected as Chairman of the PBC Executive Committee for 2026.
The Pakistan Bar Council also strongly condemned the ongoing smear campaign targeting judges of the Lahore and Islamabad High Courts. The Council termed the campaign unacceptable and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the independence of the judiciary and upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law.
The PBC reiterated that it would continue its struggle for the protection of judicial independence and constitutional governance.
