ISLAMABAD, Mar 8 (APP):Former national women’s hockey player and Pakistan’s first woman Olympics volunteer Rabia Qadir Sunday praised the Punjab government’s initiatives for women’s empowerment, saying on International women’s day that the Chief Minister Punjab has set a strong example by promoting opportunities and support for women across the province.
 In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan in connection with International Women’s Day, she said Punjab is witnessing a positive transformation through policies designed to create a supportive and enabling environment for women.
Women in Punjab are now being empowered to take bold strides forward and actively shape the future across diverse sectors of society. Rabia Qadir noted that the growing participation of women in sports, education and professional fields reflects a positive societal shift and demonstrates that the culture of women’s empowerment in the province is steadily strengthening.
She added that women are also playing key roles in leadership and governance, pointing out that the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Senior Minister and the Provincial Minister for Information are women who are successfully managing critical responsibilities.
 Highlighting the importance of women’s progress, the former national hockey player said the development of women is essential not only for social uplift but also for the overall progress and prosperity of the country.
 Rabia Qadir thanked Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for organizing the Khelta Punjab Pink Games, saying that the participation of more than 3,400 female athletes reflects the growing interest of women in sports.
 She also appreciated the Chief Minister’s initiatives for women’s protection and welfare, including the establishment of a Virtual Women Police Station under the Safe Cities Authority and the provision of hostel facilities for women.
