ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (APP):Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, formally presented his credentials to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin during a solemn ceremony held Thursday at the Grand Kremlin Palace.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi conveyed greetings and best wishes of the President, the Prime Minister and the people of Pakistan to President Putin, said a press release received here.
President Putin, while terming Pakistan as a close partner of Russia, noted with appreciation that cooperation between the two countries were expanding especially in the fields of trade, diplomacy, commerce, education, agriculture, pharmaceutical, railways, industry, health and IT.
Ambassador Tirmizi officially assumed charge of the Mission in Moscow on 26 October 2025. The Ambassador’s tenure will focus on scaling Pakistan-Russia bilateral cooperation across all areas of mutual interest, specifically in the fields of energy, trade, connectivity, culture, education and promoting people-to-people contact.
He also places a high priority on engaging with and supporting the Pakistani diaspora across the Russian Federation.
A distinguished career diplomat, he joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1995 and has held various key positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Pakistan’s missions abroad, including assignments in Turkmenistan, the United States, the United Nations and the United Arab Emirates. He previously served as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kyrgyz Republic (2018-2019) and the United Arab Emirates (2022–2025).
In recognition of his diplomatic services and contributions to international cooperation, Ambassador Tirmizi was honored with the First-Class Order of Zayed II, conferred by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
He is also a recipient of the SCO-RATS Award for his work within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
