ISLAMABAD, Feb 5 (APP):A one-minute silence was observed across the country at 10 am on Tuesday as the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) marked the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ to express solidarity with the people of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
By observing the silence, the whole nation with one voice paid tribute to martyrs of Kashmir, who sacrificed their lives for their legitimate right of self-determination in line with the resolutions passed by the Security Council of United Nations.
A main ceremony was held here at the D Chowk to observe the one-minute silence and form a human chain to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir, who are struggling for more than seven decades to get rid of Indian subjugation.People from all walks of life especially students and officials of Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan Councils actively participated in the event.
Addressing the participants, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said the Pakistani nation was standing by people of IoK till they achieved their legitimate right to self-determination.
He said the government and the people of Pakistan would continue extending their unflinching moral, political and diplomatic support to their Kashmiri brethren for the just cause of self-determination.
Meanwhile, the human chains were also formed on all connecting points of Pakistan and AJK like Kohala, Holar, Azad Pattan and Mirpur, in which people from all walks of life and representatives of all provincial governments participated.
