No political interference in govt institutions: Punjab Governor

LAHORE, Feb 06 (APP):Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Wednesday said there was no political interference in the affairs of government institutions as evident from the arrest of Abdul Aleem Khan by the National Account Bureau (NAB).
Talking to media-persons after attending a traders convention and an international conference under the Punjab University (PU) here, he said the Constitution and rule of law were supreme in the country.
He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was setting international standards in the accountability process and maintaining neutrality. Aleem Khan, he said, tendered resignation as Punjab’s Senior Minister soon after he was detained by the NAB officials.
“Whether he was in the government or opposition, Aleem Khan had appeared before NAB whenever he was summoned.”
The governor said Aleem Khan being a PTI leader had rendered invaluable services during the general election 2018 and sacrificed a lot for the party.
The truth would be victorious once his case was heard in court, he added.
Chaudray Sarwar said NAB was free to apprehend all those who had looted the nation during the last 30 years.
To a query, Governor Sarwar said the government did not have a magic wand to resolve problems in a day, however, it would give 10 million jobs and 5 million homes to the homeless.
To another question, he said the PTI government had always held Constitution and the law supreme. All were equal in the eye of law and the government had never meddled in the affairs of state institutions, he reiterated.
He said Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar was holding consultations to formulate policies for addressing the problems of traders. The PTI government would soon overcome economic challenges faced by the country, he added.
The governor said Prime Minister Imran Khan had given a clear vision regarding the provision of health and education facilities to the masses. Under the Prime Minister’s Health Insurance programme, health facilities would be to the people without any discrimination, he added.
