Minister urges swift completion of BISP Digital Wallets SIM distribution

ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (APP): In a decisive push to strengthen Pakistan’s social protection system, Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah Wednesday reviewed the progress of the Benazir Income Support Programme’s (BISP) Digital Wallets initiative, emphasizing timely and secure access to financial assistance for all eligible beneficiaries.
During the high-level meeting with Secretary BISP, Amir Ahmad Ali, the minister was briefed on the pace of SIM distribution under the Social Protection Wallets program.
The secretary reported that over 60 percent of the SIMs have already reached beneficiaries nationwide, marking a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in social welfare delivery.
The federal minister commended the rapid implementation, efficient delivery mechanisms, and effective execution of the initiative, highlighting that the Digital Wallets system reflects a modern, accountable, and citizen-focused approach to social protection.
He praised the leadership of Secretary BISP and his team for achieving substantial progress within a short timeframe.
Reiterating the importance of timely service, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah directed authorities to expedite the remaining distribution, ensuring seamless and secure financial access for all beneficiaries under the Social Protection Wallets framework.
